Recruiting Tidbits 10.17.09

DeAnthony Arnett of Saginaw High put together a midseason highlight tape a few weeks ago and it really caught the interest of some of the top programs in the country.  Arnett is NGS’ #1 player in the class of 2011 for football and his highlight tape is evident why.

Arnett picked up offers from Oregon and LSU this week, while Oklahoma has also been impressed and the Sooners plan to make it up to Saginaw in the following weeks to extend their offer. Arnett has been in talks with Alabama and Cincinnati and expects offers from those schools soon.  This weekend Arnett headed to South Bend to take in the USC/Notre Dame game and it is likely that he will return with an offer from the Fighting Irish.    

Arnett isn’t the only Trojan that has found success on the recruiting trail.  Teammate Teveon Whitson has recently picked up an offer from Central Michigan.  The 6-3 Whitson plays outside linebacker and safety for the Trojans but is projected to play strong safety at the next level. 

Grand Blanc solidified their spot as one of the state’s elite teams with a 28-0 thumping over previously unbeaten Walled Lake Central and junior feature back Justice Hayes has taken advantage by picking up offers from BIG 10 schools Iowa and Northwestern. 

NGS’ #2 receiver from the class of 2011, Country Day’s Kenny Knight, is also doing pretty well for himself in the recruiting department.  Knight has recently picked up major interest from Michigan State, Michigan, Stanford, Connecticut, Oregon, Wisconsin, Miami, and Georgia Tech.

Moving over to basketball, Knight’s Country Day teammates have been busy as of late.  Amir Williams is spending this weekend in Miami taking a closer look at the Hurricanes.  Amir flew out yesterday to take in Miami’s Midnight Madness.         

Ray McCallum Jr. was scheduled to take an official visit to Florida this weekend but choose to attend his Country Day’s homecoming instead and has rescheduled his visit to Gator Country the first weekend in November.  Expect to see an in depth feature on McCallum in the next week.
