WEEK 8: Top 10 Games and Picks
10. #21 Ann Arbor Pioneer at #26 Chelsea
The team that can run the ball will win. Chelsea has Nick Hill…enough said.
NGS PICK: Chelsea 34-28
9. #20 Midland at #45 Country Day
This match up just intrigues me with a SVL power vs. a state power. Midland’s O-line will be tough for CD to handle.
NGS PICK: Midland 28-24
8. #12 Clarkston at F.H. Harrison
Harrison needs to snap a 2 game loosing streak but odds say not against Clarkston.
NGS PICK: Clarkston 27-17
7. #16 Rochester Adams at #18 Lake Orion
This will be a good test for each team heading into the playoffs. LO can’t look ahead to next week’s match up with Clarkston.
NGS PICK: Lake Orion 24-21
6. #5 Grand Blanc at #37 Walled Lake Central
Battle of unbeatens but Grand Blanc is battle tested having to face a tougher road. Not sure if Central knows what’s coming.
NGS PICK: Grand Blanc 35-14
5. #48 Livonia Stevenson at #9 Canton
Stevenson’s Austin White will have trouble finding running room against a stingy Canton defense.
NGS PICK: Canton 35-17
4. #38 Grand Ledge at #14 Holt
CAAC-Blue title goes to winner. Both teams are 6-1 but Holt seems to be in the elite group of the state.
NGS PICK: Holt 28-14
3. #32 King vs. #25 Crockett at Renaissance
Plenty of speed and high major talent at the skill positions for both teams but King’s physical line and defense will be the difference.
NGS PICK: King 20-14
2. #1 Sterling Heights Stevenson at #15 Romeo
Romeo lives with their run game and they will need a big game out of Ben Brown to keep that explosive Stevenson offense off the field. Stevenson still has too many weapons for Romeo to contain.
NGS PICK: Stevenson 31-17
1. #6 Lowell at #4 East Grand Rapids
Both teams come in unbeaten and sit atop of the AP’s D2 and D3 polls. Regardless who wins I think we’ll see both of these at Ford Field. I think East has just a few more weapons than Lowell.
NGS PICK: East Grand Rapids 35-32
