Big Games this weekend…

Detroit Southeastern and Country Day are set to compete Feb 14, 2010 in the continuation of the first annual “Dorian Styles Dawkins Classic”.  With the JV tipping off at 6pm followed by the Varsity at 8pm at Detroit Country Day High School.  Proceeds will go to the Dorian Styles Dawkins Foundation.

Southeastern stepped in to replace Columbus Northland, because of the weather they were not able to make it last week nor reschedule.

The game features Mr. Basketball candidate Ray McCallum as well as some of the state’s top up and coming talent from the class of 2011.  6-6 combo guard Brandan Kearney highlights Southeastern’s squad.  The most intriguing match-up comes inside as 6-10 Amir Williams will take on 6-8 Percy Gibson.

Both teams also feature 2011 prospects at the guard positions.  Lee Bailey, Chris Fowler, and Kenny Knight for Country Day with Ed Brown and Devontae Carter for Southeastern.

Mid-Michigan will also have a prime time match-up as Romulus travels to Arthur Hill Saturday afternoon.  Both are favorites to advance to the Breslin Center to compete for the Class A title.  Arthur Hill’s Maurice Jones will try and continue his mission to prove his worthiness for Mr. Basketball.  Last year Jones put 40 on Romulus.  Romulus counters with their own senior star in DeAndray Buckley.

Romulus’ 6-7 Justin Moss and the Hill’s 6-9 sophomore Jordan Hare are sure to set some fireworks inside.
