Video Chat: Demarco Sanders, Flint Powers

One thing is for sure about Demarco Sanders and that is you can’t question his toughness.  The 6-2 senior toughed it out and played Friday’s game against Carman-Ainsworth with a sprained ankle.  He then turned around and played Saginaw High in the Dorian Dawkins “Show Your Heart” Memorial on that same ankle.  To make matters worse he took a hit to the eye against Saginaw and needed stitches, but decided to just bandage it up and continue playing.

In both those games Sanders came up big and led his team to victory.  Against Carman Sanders ignited his team with 11 first quarter points while finishing with 15 in the 60-49 route.

Sanders put it on Saginaw for 22 points and came up with the big shot every time his team needed one, which included the game winning tip in with just four seconds remaining.  Sanders took home the game’s MVP trophy.

Last year Sanders played his role in helping Powers win a state championship, but this year Sanders is leading the way with a 21 point per game average for the 12-3 Chargers.

With the emergence of Sanders Powers is back on track to make another Breslin appearance.

NGS caught up with Sanders after the Saginaw win and spoke to him about his performance in the past few games, his outlook on the remainder of the season, as well as his recruitment and the schools that are in the mix of landing the sharp shooter.
