Video Chat: Ray McCallum, Country Day
Ray McCallum’s senior year is going just as planned. The leader of Detroit Country Day has his team standing at 14-1 and in a perfect contention to win the Class B title.
He has raised plenty of buzz nationally with big wins over Bishop Lauers (IN), Madison Memorial (WI), Lew Wallace (IN), and Detroit Pershing while averaging 22.5 points per game to go with 6 assist and 7 rebounds.
Last week the 6-1 point guard was introduced as a member of this year’s McDonald’s All-American team. He is currently unsigned and is one of the nation’s top players still on the board.
But even with all the buzz and attention McCallum has been able to focus on his ultimate goal of winning his last high school game.
Sunday night NGS spoke with McCallum after leading his team to an 80-64 win over Detroit Southeastern in the Dorian Dawkins “Show Your Heart” Memorial. McCallum spoke about the win, what it meant to him to be a McDonald’s All-American, his recruitment, and the remainder of the season.
